To lose weight, many people engage in a low carb diet to help them regain the weight they are aiming for. And while eating low carbs may be a simple way to lose weight, not many people are aware of what it truly entails.

The first thing that you need to know is that not all carbs are made equal. You need to avoid simple carbs such as white paste and white bread and opt for the high fiber and complex carbs which will not raise your blood sugar. Some good examples are whole grains, vegetables and fruits. The fact is, merely changing all the white food items in your diet to whole grains or brown alternatives will definitely make a difference.

In addition, in every meal that you consume, it would be to your advantage to limit the amount of carbohydrates that you eat to approximately 40 grams.

When you are limiting your carbohydrate intake to 40 grams per meal, you would need some assistance in helping your stomach feel more satisfied. Consuming moderate amounts of plant based unsaturated fats and oils will help you achieve this goal. Olive oil and nuts are good options.

In the same manner, it would be wise to try and stay away from saturated and hydrogenated fats such as butter, animal fats and the fat in processed foods. Also avoid food which contains high fructose corn syrup. These include but are not limited to processed foods and commercial baked goods.

To decrease your craving for sugar and to keep your blood sugar levels stable, it is highly recommended that you consume some protein with every meal you take. Some good food options where you can get protein include lean cuts of meat, fish and poultry. Beans and Low fat dairy products are also good sources of protein.

As a general rule, it is recommended that for every seven grams of protein that you consume, you need to complement it with fifteen grams of carbohydrates without going over the recommended 40 grams of carbs for every meal.

It is also a good idea to not believe diet advices which do not make sense. A good example is the advice on eating carrots and peas. Some people say that you will gain weight when you eat a lot of carrots and peas. This is simply not true. No matter how much carrots and peas you eat, this will not make you gain weight significantly nor will it make your blood sugar levels swing.

If you intend to eat a lot of carrots and peas, what you need to do is to consume it with a food that contains either protein or fat. This will prevent you from the risk of a possible sugar rush.

Finally, some people make the mistake of avoiding all kinds of food from one particular food group. This is not recommended. You need a good balanced diet. The important thing is to eat in moderation and to know when to stop. Do not deprive yourself of eating the foods that you love. The Medifast Diet has been designed to be a low carb diet.

According to research studies, it is not unusual for people who have lost weight to regain their weight back. In fact, studies have shown that approximately eighty percent of those who lost their weight often gain it back within three to five years.

What’s worse is that when people regain their weight, they often gain a couple of pounds more. This can be very frustrating. Nothing can be more frustrating than knowing that you are a few steps back from where you initially started.

Now, what does this mean?

This means that while a lot of people have been successful at losing weight, many people have found it difficult to keep the weight off. While many people find it easy to lose weight, the more pressing problem is how to keep the weight off.

To address this issue and to keep it from happening to you, you need to focus on your diet and create a plan on how to keep your commitment to your weight loss goal steady. The key is to not abandon our weight loss efforts the minute you have achieved your target weight.

Achieving your target weight should not be the end of your diet program. It is just the beginning of the new phase of your diet program. Keep in mind that maintaining your target weight also requires your commitment and hard work. Not having these will only make you gain your weight back.

To keep your commitment and prevent from having a relapse, here are some of the things that you need to do:

Write down your goals. It is not enough that you know your weight loss goals. You also need to write it down. You need to be able to see it so you are constantly reminded about your goal. Do not think that just because you have already reached your target goal, you can now relax. You should know that relaxing at this stage will only make you gain your weight back.

Celebrate your success in a non-food way. Achieving your target weight may be a cause for celebration but this does not mean that you should go all out and have a feast with your family and friends. Do not celebrate your success with a feast or by eating all the foods that you have missed. It is best that you celebrate in other ways that will not involve food.

Continue to seek the support of your family and friends. Remind your family and friends that achieving your target weight does not mean that you no longer need them to support you. On the contrary, their support is still very much needed at this time. It cannot be denied that achieving the target weight sometimes causes people to put their guards down. The temptation to have a small slice of cake, a small bar of chocolate or even a glass of soda becomes greater especially now that you are feeling great and feeling thin.

If you constantly give in to such temptations, it will not take long before you find yourself welcoming the pounds back. You do not want this to happen to you.

For many of us, we have made it through the holidays and are now trudging forth into a healthier 2011. We have acknowledged our need to lose some weight, tone up a little and get ourselves into a newer, thinner us. That being said, how do we do it? So many times we look to weight loss as a chore, something horrible that we must endure.

Finding ways to lose weight fast to see some results will help end that perception and keep the motivation going. Whether you need to lose ten pounds or twenty, we all have to start somewhere. Of course healthy eating is at the top of the list to help lose weight easily, but there are other measures to take to make sure you lose that way fast through 2011.

Get Organized!
Saying that you want to lose to weight is only half the battle. Actually putting those words into motion is the other. Making sure you have all the tools to ensure a successful amount of weight is lost is the key. Seeing results quickly will mean that you need to make changes immediately to your daily routine, which calls for some planning. Getting yourself organized is an essential step for your weight loss. This can involve a daily journal or weight loss planner and calendar. Whichever methods works best for you is how to proceed, the important is beginning!

Get Those Legs Moving!
Exercise is so important to any weight plan. Losing weight fast, means getting moving right away. Anytime results are wanted, the best way to get them is to begin burning more calories than you eat. Any exercise that gets you moving and increases you heart rate will burn calories. Even if brisk walking is what you can manage it will be the start of your weight loss. Ensuring that you exercise three times a week or more will improve your results dramatically. Other extras such as taking the stairs when you can take the elevator, walking instead of driving, and parking the furthest away from your destination are all tips that will give you that extra exercise.

Get Your Drink On!
This isn’t new, but it’s tried and true. Hydrate your body. Drinking at least eight glasses of water will actually help you lose weight quickly. Your body is primarily made up of water, so replenishing it consistently will help expel any stored water. Drinking water will also help flush out any unwanted toxins from your body and will help hydrate your skin for a nice complexion. For most people drinking water is a hard task to complete, but it is important for fast weight loss. Try cutting up lemon and limes to flavour your water. For a fruitier taste, use frozen fruit as ice cubes to infuse your water with some flavour.

Get Eating!
Eating three healthy meals a day with two healthy snacks will help speed up your metabolism there by speeding up your weight loss process. Once you fuel your body regularly it will begin to burn calories faster. Coupled with regular exercise the pounds will come off in no time! Look for food rich in fiber and protein. Not only will these foods help keep you fuller longer, they also help your body in supporting proper digestion. This too is an important factor in weight loss. Healthy eating will make the difference to losing weight easily and quickly.

Losing weight fast through 2011 can be done in a healthy manner that is right for you and your body. All it takes is three things; commitment, determination and knowledge. This new thinner you id attainable in 2011, go get it!

Question by LG: Does anyone have football diet plans?
I am playing JV football. Can anyone tell me what kinds of healthy food have protein and carbs? Will eating Ramen Noodles affect my performance with the basic sandwhich?

Best answer:

Answer by seagreene
Some good foods would be those with lean sources of protein and healthy fats.

Peanut butter

Eggs

Egg whites

Salmon

Trout

Chicken breast/thighs

Tofu (its good)

Edamame (available frozen)

Low-fat milk (1-2%)

Soy milk

yogurt

Whole grains are best:

Oatmeal w/ banana and raisins

Whole wheat bread and buns

Brown rice

Wheat english muffins

Whole wheat spaghetti

Ramen noodles are a good source of carbs, but they are not the best source. Also, the flavor packets are very high in sodium, so try using just half of it–i bet you’ll hardly notice the difference. Try making some other type of whole wheat noodle–boil them with low sodium chicken broth, and add some chopped broccoli and carrots.

Lastly, do not get caught up in the hype about protein shakes and supplements. Chances are you are getting plenty of protein. Your body just excretes the excess, meaining it will NOT go towards building muscle.

Oh yes and keep hydrated, and snack on fresh fruits and vegetables.

Finally, this is a good link for some sample menus and a good explanation about what you should be looking for in your carbs and protein.

It could be stress, don’t worry about it… it may only make it worse.

I want to do the Medifast Diet but I don’t have the money right now, any suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by joe b
A good tip is make sure you eat healthily but in good quantity whilst exercising this way you lose more weight due to a steady metabolism, gradually reduce the amount you are eating over time, do not starve your body or you will not lose weight. Take it steady and set yourself a daily exercise routine of about 10 mins gradually increase it to 15 minutes and so on. The pounds will be flying off!

good luck
